BrickHouse Ceramic Art Center was founded in 2007, by Ellen E. Day who worked as Director of the Ceramic Department for the Craft Students League YWCA/NYC for seven years. When the YWCA decided to sell its building and change its focus, the Craft Students League closed. Ellen took the opportunity to purchase the equipment and open BrickHouse in a 4,000 square foot facility in Long Island City.
