With a commitment to sourcing high quality ingredients, our kitchen at Tabard Inn creates a daily menu based on what is local, fresh, and seasonal to bring inspired dishes to your table. Enjoy delicious meals at breakfast, brunch, lunch, or dinner in our unique dining rooms and garden patio with ivy-covered brick walls or creative cocktails and lite fare at our quaint bar or cozy fireplace lounges. The Tabard Inn welcomes international and local guests to a charming environment which feels many miles away from the Nation’s capital.

Initially designed as private residences in the late 1800’s, three Victorian townhouses, in an area near Dupont Circle known as “Mayfair” were linked to form the Tabard Inn in 1922. The Hotel Tabard Inn, named after the famous hostelry of Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales, is known to be one of the oldest continuously operating hotels in Washington, DC. It is located off the beaten path, on a tree-lined street, a living tribute to once “small town” DC. Our hotel features 35 rooms, each unique in character and design. Our restaurant features ever-changing seasonal dishes, reflecting global influences with a regional twist. Our bar and lounges are favorite haunts for journalists, lawyers, publishers, and those involved in the arts and congressional intrigue.
