I was visiting New York in 1980 at the age of 17 walking down Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Boulevard between 132nd and 133rd Streets in Harlem. It was then I walked inside Wells Kitchen and was first introduced to “chicken & waffles”. It was delicious.

When I returned home I could not wait to show this new food combination to my friends. So I came home determined to make this my new specialty for my catering business.

My mother and father taught me how to cook and while working at both fast food and 3 star restaurants I decided to attend culinary art school. I continued cooking on the side and 4 years after graduating I opened up Heavenly Chicken & Waffles added my Detroit flare to that soon to be famous best waffle and chicken recipe and as they say the rest is history
